
Millmount
Situated on high ground in the heart of Drogheda, just 20 minutes from Slane village, Drogheda Museum Millmount is housed in the town’s former barracks complex. Constructed by Hugh De Lacy in the early 12th century as a motte and bailey this functioned as the castle of de Lacy’s port town. Millmount played a central role during Cromwell’s siege of Drogheda in 1649. Millmount Cultural Quarter offers a wide ranging experience including the museum, an array of craft shops, art studios and a restaurant.
